NFL Week 10 –

The New Orleans Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons 31-27 and gave the Falcons their first loss of the season.  The Houston Texans improved to 8-1 on the year with a 13-6 win over the Bears in Chicago.  Also, the New York Giants and New York Jets both lost on the road.

Alabama Loses –

Alabama lost to Texas A & M by a score 29-24.  The number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide trailed 20-14 at the half.  Manziel was 24 of 31 passing and threw for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron threw for 301 yards and 1 touchdown.  Alabama is 9-1 on the year and Texas A & M improved to 7-2.

Mark McGwire Joins Dodgers –

Mark McGwire is the new hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  McGwire was the hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals the past three seasons.  The Cardinals offense improved under McGwire and the team led the National League in batting average and runs scored in 2011.  McGwire hit 583 home runs and was an All-Star 12 times in his 16 year career.

Steve Nash Out For Clippers Game –

Steve Nash will miss the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Clippers.  Nash was injured in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.  The Lakers are 0-2 and the Clippers are 1-0 on the year.

Giants Win World Series –

The San Francisco Giants won the World Series with a 4-3 win in game four.  San Francisco held the Detroit Tigers to six runs in the four games.  The Giants had a 1.46 earned run average for the World Series.

World Series Game 3 –

The San Francisco Giants shutout the Detroit Tigers for the second straight game.  The 2-0 victory in game three gave the Giants a three game lead in the World Series.  Ryan Vogelsong pitched 5 2/3 innings and got the win.  Tim Lincecum held the Tigers scoreless for 2 1/3 innings and had 3 strikeouts.  Blanco and Crawford each had an RBI for the Giants in the second inning.

San Francisco Giants Win Game Two –

The San Francisco Giants won game two of the World Series by a score of 2-0.  The Giants have taken a two game lead over the Detroit Tigers in the best of seven World Series.  San Francisco pitching held the Tigers to two hits and two walks.  Madison Bumgardner pitched seven shutout innings and got the win.  Romo came on in the ninth inning to get the save.  San Francisco scored one run in the seventh inning and one more in the eighth.

College Football Week 8 –

The top five college football teams all won and remained undefeated.  Top ranked Alabama defeated Tennessee 44-13 and will play at Mississippi next week.   The number two ranked Florida Gators won at home 44-11 over South Carolina.  Third ranked Oregon won 43-21 over Arizona State.  Collin Klein led Kansas State to a 55-14 victory over West Virginia.  Notre Dame improved to 7-0 with a 17-14 win over BYU.

New York Yankees Swept By Tigers –

The Detroit Tigers won the American League Championship and are headed to the World Series and will face the winner of the Giants and Cardinals series.  Detroit had an 8-1 victory over New York in game four of the series.  New York scored 6 runs and had only 22 hits in the four game series.  The last time the Detroit Tigers won a World Series was in 1984.

College Football Week 7 –

Florida remained undefeated with a 31-17 victory over Vanderbilt.  The number four ranked Florida Gators improved to 6-0 on the season.  The Gators ground game scored 3 touchdowns and gained 317 yards on the day.  Also improving to 6-0 on the year were Alabama, Kansas State, and Mississippi State.  Number one ranked Alabama defeated Missouri 42-10.  McCarron was 16-21 and threw for 171 yards.

New York Yankees Win Game Five –

The New York Yankees won game five of the American League Division Series by a score of 3-1.  Sabathia pitched a complete game for New York and had nine strikeouts and allowed only four hits.  The New York Yankees will face the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship Series.

San Francisco Giants Win Game Four –

The San Francisco Giants won game four of the National League Division Series over the Cincinnati Reds.  Five San Francisco pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts and allowed only 4 walks and 3 runs.  Tim Lincecum had 6 strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of relief and picked up the win.  The home team has not won a game in this playoff series.  Game five will be played tomorrow afternoon in Cincinnati.  The expected pitchers for game five are Cain and Latos.

Washington Nationals Drop Game Two –

The Washington Nationals lost game two to the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 12-4.  The Nationals had a 3-2 victory in game one of the series in St. Louis on Sunday.  The National League Division Series is tied at one game each and game three will be played in Washington on Wednesday.

Chicago Bears Defeat Dallas Cowboys –

The Chicago Bears defeated the Cowboys in Dallas on Monday night.  Tony Romo had two passes intercepted and returned for touchdowns in the 34-18 Cowboy loss.  Jay Cutler threw for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Bears.  Chicago is 3-1 on the year and the Cowboys are 2-2.

NFL Week 4 –

The Arizona Cardinals were led by Kevin Kolb to a 24-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins.  Kolb threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was 26 of 41 passing and threw for 431 yards.  The Arizona Cardinals are 4-0 on the season.  The Houston Texans defeated the Tennessee Titans 38-14 and improved to 4-0.  Matt Ryan threw for 369 yards and led the Atlanta Falcons to their fourth win of the year.
