Ruler On Ice Wins Belmont –

Ruler on Ice won the Belmont Stakes in a time of 2:30:88.  Ruler on Ice took over the lead from the Kentucky Derby winner Shackleford in the straight.  Shackleford finished in fifth place and Animal Kingdom came in sixth.  This is the third consecutive year that a different horse has won each leg of the Triple Crown.

Canucks: One Win Away –

The Vancouver Canucks won game five and have a three games to two lead in the best of seven series.  Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Loungo pitched a shutout against the Bruins in the 1-0 win.  Tim Thomas only gave up one goal as the Boston Bruins goalie.  Loungo had 31 saves and Thomas had 24.  Game six will be played in Boston on Monday night.

Nowitzki Leads Mavericks –

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks to another comeback victory in game four against the Miami Heat.  Nowitzki has been clutch in the fourth quarter all season but has moved it into high gear for the NBA Finals.  Nowitzki has scored more points in the fourth quarter in the NBA Finals than the combination of Dwayne Wade and LeBron James.  Nowitzki has scored 44 fourth quarter points with Wade scoring 30 points and LeBron James only 9 points.

New York Ironman –

The New York Triathlon is likely to be the most expensive in the world.  World Triathlon Corp. officials have stated that the entry fee could reach $1,000.  A New York based triathlon will incur more expenses than in other areas.  However, it is expected that there will be sponsorships that will cover part of the cost.

Bruins Win Game Three –

The Boston Bruins won game three and cut the Vancouver Canucks lead to only one game.  The 8-1 victory by the Bruins before their home crowd keeps the Stanley Cup finals competitive.  Game four will be played in Boston on Wednesday.

Miami Heat Take Game Three –

The Miami Heat won game three in Dallas by a score of 88-86.  The victory gives the Heat a two games to one lead over the Dallas Mavericks.  This was the second postseason home loss for the Mavericks this year.  Game four and five will be played in Dallas on Tuesday and Thursday night.

Nadal Wins Sixth French Open –

Rafael Nadal won his sixth French Open with a four set victory over Roger Federer.  The French Open win allowed Nadal to hold on to his number one world ranking.  Novak Djokovic would have been number one if Nadal lost or if Djokovic made the finals.  Djokovic has not reached a French Open final.

Nowitzki Leads Mavs To Victory –

Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 points and led the Dallas Mavericks to victory in game two of the NBA Finals.  The Mavericks came back from 15 points behind in the fourth quarter to win 95-93 in Miami.  Nowitzki was playing injured and still managed to score the last nine points for the Mavericks.  Game Three will be played in Dallas on Sunday.

Canucks Take Game One –

The Vancouver Canucks won game one of the Stanley Cup finals by a score of 1-0.  The Canucks and Bruins were scoreless until the last 18.5 seconds of the game.  The goal by Raffi Torres was the latest regulation goal ever in a 1-0 Stanley Cup final.  Game two will be played on Saturday night in Vancouver.

Miami Wins Game One –

The Miami Heat won the first game of the NBA Finals with a 92-84 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.  The low scoring game ended the Mavericks five game road winning streak.  Miami had four players score in double digits and came back from an eight point third quarter deficit.  Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 27 points for the Mavericks.

Wheldon Wins Indy 500 –

Dan Wheldon won the 100th Indianapolis 500 and JR Hildebrand came in second place.  Hildebrand was in the lead but crashed on the final turn.  Hildebrand would have been one of the few rookies to ever win the Indy 500.

Mets To Sell Minority Interest To Einhorn –

The New York Mets have agreed to sell a minority interest in the franchise for $200 million dollars.  David Einhorn will have preferred partner status and the percentage of his ownership has not been released.  David Einhorn is the President of Greenlight Capital Incorporated.

Miami Heat Win Game Four –

The Miami Heat won game four over the Chicago Bulls by a score of 101-93.  The overtime victory gave the Heat a three games to one advantage over the Bulls.  Miami continues to play strong at home in the postseason.  Game five will be played in Chicago on Thursday night.

Thome Hits Two Homers –

Jim Thome hit two homers for the Minnesota Twins in their 8-7 loss to the Seattle Mariners.  Thome hit homeruns number 592 and 593 as he closes in on the 600 mark.  Thome recently came off the DL and is a valuable asset to the Minnesota Twins offense.

The Miami Heat won game three and have a two games to one lead over the Chicago Bulls.  The 96-85 win keeps the Miami Heat undefeated at home in the playoffs this season.  Game four of the best of seven series will be played in Miami on Tuesday night.
