Washington Nationals 2014 –

Matt Williams takes the helm of the Washington Nationals’ after manager Davey Johnson retired last season.  Davey Johnson built the Nationals into a playoff contender in his short time with the club.  Matt Williams is expected to have a healthy Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper this season.  Strasburg had surgery a few months ago to remove bone chips from his pitching arm.  The Washington Nationals and Strasburg also came to terms on a one year deal that is just shy of $4 million before performance bonuses.  Strasburg averaged more than a strikeout per inning in 2013 with 191 strikeouts in 183 innings.  Washington has one of the best starting rotations in Major League Baseball.

The Washington Nationals finished in second place behind the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.  Washington had 86 wins and were 4 games back of the Cincinnati Reds for the last wild card.

Washington starts the season off in New York on March 31st against the Mets.  Washington plays a three game series in New York before heading home to face the Atlanta Braves.
