America may withdraw a bid to host the 2018 World Cup and focus on a 2022 bid. China is making a bid to host the 2026 World Cup and that would also help the 2022 American bid. A 2026 bid by China is likely to prevent another Asian country from securing the 2022 World Cup. Generally, the same continent does not host back to back World Cups.
