The average baseball game takes nearly three hours with some lasting more than four. Baseball has slowed down over the years and no longer enjoys the Tom Seaver and Stave Carlton pitching duels. Pitching duels are supposed to barely last two hours but that’s nearly impossible with the way the game is played today. Some might say that instant replay would only slow down the game further but at least it would add some value. At the current pace going to a game is a day at the park, literally.

Baseball may begin to experiment with instant replay as early as fall. Instant replay has been well received in other sports and baseball should not be any different. Sports fans benefit from accurate calls by officials. Nothing makes a fan more angry than getting robbed by the refs or umps as in this case.

Baseball fans or at least Mets fans know that Willie Randolph is in trouble. The Mets manager has not been a fan favorite with his game decisions. He seems to lack a drive for the manager role as well as baseball knowledge. The fact that Willie is one of the nicest people in baseball still won’t save his job. Remember, the goal is to actually win games.
