Congressman Joe Barton of Texas is attempting to change the way bowl selections are made in college. Bowl season provides valuable funds for schools and the states where they are located. However, the Congressman doesn’t provide a plan on an improved system.

Iowa Beats Penn State –

Third ranked Penn State fell to Iowa 24-23 and may not have a shot at the National Championship. Joe Paterno was expected to cruise into the championship game after having big wins in the early part of the season.

Maddux wins 18th Gold Glove –

The Mets have two Gold Gloves with the names Beltran and Wright. Both have won the award in the past. Coming as little surprise is the award to Greg Maddux. Maddux has won the Gold Glove 18 times in his career.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have moved onto the World Series. They will face the Philadelphia Phillies who are made their last appearance in the Series back in 1993. The Phillies won their only World Series back in 1980.
