Randy Johnson Wins 300th –

Randy Johnson became the 24th player to win 300 games as the Giants defeated the Washington Nationals. The achievement is becoming more difficult in modern baseball because of the five man rotation. The fewer potential starts have limited the number of pitchers approaching the 300 magic number.

Rachel Alexandra Wins –

Rachel Alexandra takes the Preakness and is on her way to the Belmont Stakes. The Preakness is the second leg of the Triple Crown and comes after the Kentucky Derby. Rachel Alexandra did not run in the Derby but did have the jockey who won the Derby.

Favre Return?

Brett Favre was officially released from the Hew York Jets at the request of his agent. This move would allow other teams to acquire Favre if he wished to return to football. One of the teams that seem to be showing an interest in Favre is the Minnesota Vikings. If the bicep injury heals and Favre can return to football he probably will make the attempt.

Johnson Closes In On 300 –

Randy Johnson nailed down win number 296 against his old team the Arizona Diamondbacks. Johnson is 1-2 on the season but he put in a solid perfomance for the Giants. The 45 year old brought a two hitter into the seventh inning and can only be pleased with his perfomance.

The North Carolina Tar Heels won another National Championship. Carolina Blue was led by Hansbrough to an easy win over Michigan State. Needless to say they are ranked number one in the polls.

Cutler To Bears –

In a move that could bring the Bears further into January play, the Jay Cutler acquisiton makes sense. Pete Priscoe of CBS Sports tends to agree with the Cutler move. his argument is that the Bears have had more than 40 quarterbacks since the early 1990s.

Giants Almost Sold Out –

Some tickets remain for the New York Giants but not many. The remaining seats in the Giants new stadium will be offered to the 93,000 people on the waiting list. It is not expected that any seats will be left for the general public.
