The Canadian hockey team won the Gold Medal.  The 3-2 victory came in overtime with a goal by Crosby.

Tennessee Defeats Kentucky –

Tennessee beat number two ranked Kentucky 74-65.  The number 19 ranked Vols are set to rise in the rankings after the strong performance.  Three guards accounted for 45 points for Tennessee as they moved to 21-7 on the year.

U.S. Hockey To Play For Gold –

The U.S. Hockey team defeated Finland today by the score of 6-1.  The victory means that the American team will play for the Gold medal on Sunday.

Kansas Jayhawks Basketball –

The Jayhawks are known for their basketball and this season has been good for their fans.  The Kansas Jayhawks have clinched a share of the Big 12 title with a win over Oklahoma.  They are number 1 ranked and have a 27-1 record for the season.

The Saints March In –

The Saints won the Super Bowl by a 31-17 margin over the Colts.  Peyton Manning tossed a late interception that sealed the game for the Saints.

Jerry Rice Makes Hall of Fame –

Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith are two of the seven new members of the Hall of Fame.  Rice and Smith were both in their first years of eligibility.   Every nominee is required to receive 80 percent approval from the 44 media ballots.  The induction ceremony will be held on August 7th in Canton Ohio.

Bay To Join Mets –

Jason Bay has just signed a deal to join the New York Mets for the 2010 season.  The Mets now have a left fielder with some pop in his bat for a homerun starved lineup.  The Mets home field is not suited for power hitters but Bay should still fit in nicely.

Colts Set Record –

The Colts set two records with their 28-16 victory over the Broncos.  The Colts now have 22 consecutive regular season wins and 114 wins in the decade.  Peyton Manning finished the game with 220 yards passing.

Andy Pettitte To Return –

Andy Pettitte has agreed to a one year deal that will bring him back to the Yankees next season.  The contract will pay him $11.75 million for the season and is an increase over his salary last year.

Favre MVP –

Brett Favre had a career high percentage of completions against the Seahawks.  Favre threw 22 of 25 passes for completions and had four touchdowns.  Favre finished the game hearing chants of “MVP!” from the metrodome crowd.
