Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith are two of the seven new members of the Hall of Fame. Rice and Smith were both in their first years of eligibility. Every nominee is required to receive 80 percent approval from the 44 media ballots. The induction ceremony will be held on August 7th in Canton Ohio.

Jason Bay has just signed a deal to join the New York Mets for the 2010 season. The Mets now have a left fielder with some pop in his bat for a homerun starved lineup. The Mets home field is not suited for power hitters but Bay should still fit in nicely.

Andy Pettitte has agreed to a one year deal that will bring him back to the Yankees next season. The contract will pay him $11.75 million for the season and is an increase over his salary last year.
