Braden Tosses Perfect Game –

Dallas Braden pitched a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.  Oakland won the game 4-0 and the game was complete when Gabe Kapler made the final out by hitting a groundball to the shortstop.

San Jose Sharks Advance –

The San Jose Sharks eliminated the Detroit Red Wings in game 5 of the second round.  The 2-1 victory means that the Sharks will play Chicago or Vancouver in the next round.

Ten Unwritten Baseball Rules –

A Yahoo! Sports blog, Big League Stew, has a recent article on unwritten baseball rules.  The Code, lists 10 unwritten rules that baseball players are supposed to follow in a game.  Even an avid baseball fan may not be familiar with all the rules so it is certainly worth a quick read.

Cahill Leads A's –

Trevor Cahill won his first game of the season in only his second start after being called up from the minors.  Cahill pitched a solid five innings and brought his record to 1-1 on the season.  Cahill won ten games in his rookie season and the A’s are hoping that he can help lift their starting staff.

Verlander Is Back –

The Justin Verlander that Tiger fans got to know is back.  After a spotty start to the season he has finally got his old form.  Verlander pitched 8 1/3 innings and only gave up one earned run in a 5-1 victory over the Angels.

Baseball Hall Of Fame –

The Baseball Hall of Fame should be on the list of places to visit for every fan.  The weather is perfect for a trip to Cooperstown and the Hall has no shortage of things to fill your day.  The Classic is on June 20th this year but there are plenty of other reasons to visit the Hall.  Their site is full of information for visitors and should be a good starting point.

Tebow Setting Records –

Tim Tebow is no longer setting college football records but he has started to set different kinds of records.  The Tebow jersey is the fastest selling rookie jersey of all-time.  The previous record that he shattered was held by Mark Sanchez.

China Stripped Of Olympic Medal –

It has been reported that the Chinese Gymnastics team has been of an Olympic medal.  The medal  is a bronze all-around team medal for the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.  The IOC has asked that the medals be returned so that they can be reallocated to the U.S. Team.

Rivals, from Yahoo! Sports, have produced an all-undrafted team for 2010.  There were 255 players drafted but some familiar names were not on the list.  Quarterback Jevan Snead of Ole Miss is at the top of the list.

California Dreaming –

The California Angels beat the Yankees 8-4 tonight and won the series.   This was the first series loss of the year for the New York Yankees.  Kendry Morales hit a three run homer in the seventh to help the Angels pull away from the Yanks.

Clausen To Carolina –

Jimmy Clausen was selected #48 overall in the NFL draft.  Carolina used their second round draft pick to select Clausen who is expected to be a regular starter in his first season.  Anaylsts had expected Clausen to be a top ten draft choice but the Vikings, Browns, and Bills all passed.

Tebow Draft Day –

Tim Tebow was taken late in the first round by the Denver Broncos.  Denver traded their second, third, and fourth round picks to Baltimore to move up to select Tebow.  Tebow is a big question mark for many teams but he still went earlier in the draft than Jimmy Clausen.
