Indians Sweep Tigers –

The Cleveland Indians improved their record to 19-8 on the season.  Cleveland has the best record in the Major Leagues and have won 13 straight home games.  The Indians have already swept five series this season which is one more than all of their 2010 season.  Cleveland is 13-2 at home this year and that marks their best home record since 1941.

Predators Even Series With Canucks –

The Nashville Predators beat the Vancouver Canucks in double overtime by a score of 2-1.  The overtime victory by the Predators tied the series at one game.  Pekka Rinne stopped 32 shots on goal for the Pedators.  Game three will take place in Nashville on May 3rd.

NFL Draft 2012 –

NFL Draft Day is closely watched by fans looking towards the future of their teams.  Quarterbacks were well represented in the draft with Cam Newton selected as the top pick of the draft by the Carolina Panthers and Christian Ponder being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.  Ponder comes from a pro style offense at Florida State and could be the top player out of the 2012 draft.

BCS Bowl 2012 Dates –

Four of the Five BCS bowl games still have a tentative schedule.  The BCS National Championship game is one of the dates that may be rescheduled.  Currently, the BCS National Championship game is scheduled for January 9th but it could be moved to January 7th or 10th.  ESPN will not lock in the bowl dates until the NFL work stoppage issues are resolved and an NFL game schedule is finalized.

San Jose Sharks Advance Over Kings –

The San Jose Sharks won game 6 and their playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings.  Joe Thorton scored the winning goal in overtime to give the Sharks a 4-3 win.  The Sharks won the series four games to two and won all three overtime games.  The Sharks also won all three road games at Los Angeles.

Cubs Comeback To Defeat Dodgers –

The Chicago Cubs rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Dodgers 10-8.  The five run rally lasted for nine batters and was capped off with a two run double by Jeff Baker.  The Los Angeles Dodgers had won three straight games before losing at Wrigley field.

Blazers Rebound Against Mavericks –

The Portland Trailblazers won their first game of the series and now trail the Dallas Mavericks two games to one.  Portland won at home by a score of 97-92 and play game four in Portland.  Matthews and Aldridge led the Trailblazers with 25 and 20 points respectively.  Jason Terry had 29 points and was the Mavericks high scorer for the game.

Lakers And Spurs Win –

The Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs both won game two of their series.  The Lakers defeated the New Orleans Hornets 87-78 to tie the series 1-1.  San Antonio won 93-87 to even their series with the Memphis Grizzlies.  In another playoff game, the Oklahoma City Thunder took a 2-0 lead in their series with the Denver Nuggets.

MLB To Run Dodger Operations –

Major League Baseball is expected to run the day to day operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Dodgers ownership has had a difficult time running operations due to the divorce of their owner.  Baseball commissioner Bud Selig released a statement that running the Dodgers operations was for the good of the team.

Johnson Wins Talladega –

Jimmie Johnson won Talladega by finishing slightly ahead of Bowyer in the final second.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. helped his teammate to victory and Johnson gave him the checkered flag.  The win gave Jimmie Johnson the 54th of his career and the first of this season.

Haren Starts Season 4-0 For Angels –

The Angels 4-2 win over the White Sox gave Dan Haren a 4-0 start on the season.  Haren has a 1.16 ERA on the year and had pitched 19 consecutive scoreless innings before the White Sox scored in the seventh.  Buerhle pitched for the White Sox and got the loss moving him to 1-1 on the year.  The Angels have gotten off to a strong start this year winning 10 of their first 15 games.

Mavs Win Game 1 –

The Dallas Mavericks won the first game in their best of seven series with the Portland Trailblazers.  Dirk Nowitzki carried the Mavericks when the game was on the line.  Nowitzki scored 18 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter.  Jason Kidd also had 24 points in the Dallas Mavericks game one victory.

Red Sox Win Third –

The Red Sox won their third game of the year with a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.  The win lifted the Red Sox to a 3-10 record for the season.  Red Sox manager Terry Francona gave Carl Crawford the day off and moved Jed Lowrie into the leadoff spot.  Lowrie is hitting .471 on the year and Crawford has a .137 batting average.

NHL Quarterfinals –

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 2-0 in the first game of their series.  Quarterfinal action also saw the Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks victorious over the Flyers and the Kings.  Teams playing tonight for a 2-0 series lead are the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, and Vancouver Canucks.

Dallas Mavericks Win –

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Hornets 121-89 to head into the playoffs.  The Mavericks are waiting for the results of the Lakers game which will determine their seed in the playoffs.  Dirk Nowitzki scored 32 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks.
