Kevin Kolb Expected To Start –

Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb is expected to start against the Dallas Cowboys.  Kolb has not played since he was injured on October 30th.  John Skelton took snaps in practice and is expected to back-up Kolb.

Tebow Leads Broncos –

Tim Tebow has led the Denver Broncos to victory for the fifth time in six games.  The 16-13 overtime victory over the San Diego Chargers puts the Broncos at 6-5 on the season.  Earlier in the year, the Broncos were considered to be one of the few teams that would have a shot at drafting Andrew Luck.  However, the string of victories now place the Broncos in playoff contention.  Tim Tebow threw for 143 yards and ran for 67 yards.

Verlander Wins MVP –

Justin Verlander won the American League MVP award and became the first pitcher to win the award since Dennis Eckersly in 1992.  Last week, the Detroit Tigers pitcher won the Cy Young award.  Jacoby Ellsbury of the Red Sox finished second in MVP voting and Bautista of the Blue Jays came in third.

Tony Stewart Takes Sprint Cup –

Tony Stewart won the Sprint Cup Title with a come from behind victory on Sunday.  Carl Edwards led for 119 laps but finished in second place.  Tony Stewart began the race three points behind Carl Edwards and the win at the Miami-Homestead Speedway placed them in a tie.  However, the five race victories by Stewart in the Sprint Cup Championship gave him the Title in the tie-breaker.

Georgia Wins SEC East Title –

The Georgia Bulldogs won the SEC East Title with a 19-10 victory over Kentucky.  Murray was 16 for 29 and threw for 162 yards on the day.  The 9-2 Bulldogs will play in the SEC Title game on December 3rd.  This will be the fourth time that Georgia has played in the title game under coach Richt.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship –

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship will be determined this Sunday at the Homestead-Maimi Speedway.  Only 3 points separate Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart and the Ford 400 is the final race in the 10 race Sprint Cup Championship.  Tony Stewart has won four of the races but is still trailing Carl Edwards.  The Ford 400 requires 267 laps for the 400.5 miles.

Packers Top Vikings –

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 45-7 and are 9-0 on the season.  The Packers are the only undefeated team in the NFL and they face the Tampa Bay Buccaners next week.  Aaron Rodgers has now thrown for 2869 yards and 28 touchdown passes on the year.  The last time that Green Bay started this strong was in 1962 when the Packers were 10-0 and went on to win the NFL Championship.

Federer Wins Paris Masters –

Roger Federer won the Paris Masters Title with a victory over Jo Wilfried Tsonga.  The 6-1, 7-6(3) win gave Federer his 69th career title.  Currently, Federer is ranked number four and he did not win a Grand Slam title this season.

Heisman Trophy: Andrew Luck –

Sports Illustrated features top Heisman trophy candidates and the most recent is Kellen Moore.  Kellen Moore is the quarterback for the highly ranked Boise State Broncos and holds the record for the highest winning percentage at 95.8%.  Moore threw for five touchdowns against UNLV in a 48-21 victory last week.  Andrew Luck is still the favorite for the Heisman Trophy.

LSU Defeats Alabama –

LSU defeated Alabama in the battle for the number one ranking in college football.  The two top defenses squared off and LSU came out on top in overtime by a score of 9-6.    A road win by the LSU Tigers over Alabama will help to solidify their number one ranking.  The top ranked LSU Tigers still have to beat a strong Arkansas team and win the SEC Championship game to round out the season.

ESPN Longhorn Network –

The ESPN Longhorn network is expected to double the annual broadcast revenue for the University of Texas.  The creation of the Longhorn network was one of the factors leading to the Texas A & M decision to leave for the Southeastern Conference.  More schools with top sports programs are likely to create their own channels.  Increased revenues would significantly help sports programs with recruitment efforts.

NFL Power Rankings –

Fox Sports has NFL Power Rankings by NFL game analyst Brian Billick.  The Green Bay Packers still top the power rankings after a bye week and face the San Diego Chargers this Sunday.  The Packers are the only undefeated team in the NFL.  The San Francisco 49ers have only one loss on the season and are third on the power rankings.

Cardinals Win World Series –

The St. Louis Cardinals won their 11th World Series with a a game seven win over the Texas Rangers.  The Cardinals won 6-2 and Carpenter won his second game of the series.  The Cardinals forced game seven after winning game six by a score of 10-9 in 11 innings.

Rangers Even Series –

The Texas Rangers won game two of the World Series by a score of 2-1.  A ninth inning rally prevented the Rangers from falling two games behind the Cardinals in the Series.  Fifty two teams have lost the first two games of the World Series and only eleven came back to win the Series.  Game Three will be played in Texas on Saturday night.

Raiders Acquire Carson Palmer –

The Oakland Raiders acquired Carson Palmer in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals.  The Bengals will receive the 2012 Raiders first round draft choice and a second round selection in 2013.  A Raiders AFC title game appearance in either year would make the 2013 draft choice a first round selection.
